YOUFF CULTURE  ©18. 9. 02  Don Read

The trouble with young people today is they have no sense of humour.

Down at the senior citizen’s club some of the members delight in sending up current  trends in youth culture. Here are some examples.

On hearing about a pop personality known as Fat Boy Slim two of the chaps greeted us with, “Hi, I’m Tall Boy Short and this is my mate Dim Boy Thick”. Chortles all round.

When are rugby star Austen Healy and film actress Minnie Driver going to make a “road” movie.? (you need to know that an Austin Healey was a 50s sports car !

Discussion turned to favourite entertainers. Someone said they liked that stand up soprano, Lesley Garratt and the sit down pianist  Bobby Crush.  Just then the climb ladder window cleaner arrived. One member wanted to know if anyone could recommend a kneel down plumber to repair a  leak under the kitchen sink. Much hilarity.

Personally, having read about the success of a charming young chap trading under the pseudonym of Badly Drawn Boy I am considering changing my name to Beautifully Painted Geriatric. They didn’t get that one !
