Danse Gastronomique

Saint-Saëns  – Danse Macabre

Lyric © Don Read MCPS/PRS

A salutary tale for the over indulgent

If all the world was made of cake

We’d never go hungry for goodness sake

We’d eat and eat until we found

We’d eaten right through to the underground

And if we chewed for all we’re worth

We’d soon discover we’d eaten the earth

Then we’d fly to outer space

Looking for food for the human race

And we would find some far off stars

That tasted as tasty as chocolate bars

And if the moon is made of cheese

We could devour as much as we please

We’ll munch away at all of the planets

Just like a bunch of gluttonous gannets

Perhaps we’d find up in the sky

A meteor meatier than a meat pie

And If by now you’re ill or worse -

You’ve probably eaten the universe

“Let’s Sing Saint-Saëns’s Song”
