(I Behold a) Beautiful Miracle
Ravel – Pavane for a Dead Infanta
Lyric © Don Read MCPS/PRS
I behold a beautiful miracle
When I’m face to face with you
I can’t believe the view before my eyes
And if I reach out to touch you, would the fragile vision fade
And you the frail lonely image of lovers’ dreams are made
If I were a poet waxing lyrical
How could I begin to tell
The thoughts of you that dwell within my mind
Creating joyful confusion such as love can bring
No more the sad disillusion of the songs I used to sing
Somewhere beyond forever
We shared a fleeting memory
Who knows if time remembers
Those precious moments
I behold a wonderful miracle
Real as any dream can be
And I can clearly see into your soul
An irresistible feeling of contentment fills my mind
And I am lost in reflection of the love in you I find
