DRIFTING, DREAMING

Erik Satie, Lyric Don Read1978 ©

Here am I with my head in a cloud

And I seem to be thinking aloud

Drifting, Dreaming

Endlessly, hopelessly,  floating afar

Maybe I’ll wake up on some distant star

I need you

Need you to share in the infinite joy of love

Misty images clouding my mind

Is Utopia so hard to find ?

Seeking, searching

Wanting to love you that’s all that I ask

Why is it such an impossible task ?

Where are you ?

Must I rely on my fantasy world of love ?

Keep me warm in the cold of the night

Making love until dawn’s early light

Laughing, loving

*As we surrender to passions untold

Don’t leave me

Don’t ever go from this make believe world of love

. Lyric originally written for Cleo Laine and recorded on an RCA Victor album with James Galway. Also issued as the A side of a single. Album reached number two in the classical charts in 1980 and remained there for 12 weeks. Worldwide sales of the two formats reached over one million.
